Sils in Engadin

Sils in Engadin

Sils is “the loveliest corner of the whole earth”. These are the words of Friedrich Nietzsche, who wrote his “Zarathustra” while staying in this picturesque village located between the lakes of Sils and Silvaplana. Sils is also a place in which to escape the madding crowd, whichever of the two parts of the village – Sils-Maria or Sils-Baselgia – you decide to stay in.

But the “loveliest corner of the whole earth” has far more to offer. It is a particularly delightful place to visit in winter. Take your pick from skiing or sledging through the snow-clad mountain forests of Switzerland’s Engadin region, or simply sit back and enjoy the combination of glittering snow and winter sunlight. And we have fantastic summers to match, when the choice on offer includes hiking through lush alpine meadows, mountain biking, boating on the lake of Sils and wind- and kite-surfing on Silvaplana lake. But the best thing of all applies to both summer and winter: the possibility of making no choice at all, and just revelling in the simple enjoyment of being here.
